Hi all, Please forgive my lack of knowledge in this area, but I'm trying to get BONIC to use my GPU on my Mac. Of the projects I'm running, only Einstein@Home offers applications for Mac that use the GPU. The project was running fine using just my CPU. Because I have a Mac, I had to install the special CUDA drivers for the Nvidia card. But having just done that, now when fetching tasks, I get the message: Sat 5 Mar 12:36:01 2011 Einstein@Home Message from server: Your CPU lacks capability for AltiVec apps Further info: Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Starting BOINC client version 6.10.58 for x86_64-apple-darwin Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Libraries: libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.7l zlib/1.2.3 c-ares/1.6.0 Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Data directory: /Library/Application Support/BOINC Data Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8435 @ 3.06GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6] Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Processor features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL VMX EST TM2 SSSE3 CX16 TPR PDCM SSE4.1 Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 OS: Mac OS X 10.6.6 (Darwin 10.6.0) Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 451.50 GB virtual Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 Disk: 900.00 GB total, 451.26 GB free Sat 5 Mar 12:30:51 2011 NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 8800 GS (driver version unknown, CUDA version 3020, compute capability 1.1, 512MB, 160 GFLOPS peak) Have I missed something? Any ideas - bearing in mind I'm am not technically minded? Thanks for any help, Paul C. |

That's something you best ask at the Einstein forums, since it's their application that requires it. BOINC detects your GPU without issue, as you can see. Best read this thread and add to it if necessary. |
