Hi all, Can someone inform me how these two items relate to each other? I have two projects running. The resource share asks how I want to divide the computer resources between the two projects (I currently have a 75/25 split). But as the projects are supposed to swap every 60 minutes anyway, surely each project with get 100% during the time it's running. What am I missing? Thanks, Paul C. |

Hi all, 'Switch between applications every' setting is not a rigid swap time. It just tell the Boinc Manager to call on the Work Scheduler portion of the software to redo the calculation of which WU should be crunched next. This call also occurs at the completion of a WU. Several complicated factors then come into play. Deadlines are checked to make sure a WU will be returned on time and Short Term Debt is looked at to determine which WU to process next. This is why switching is not quite as neat as some people might expect. The goal of the scheduler is basically to ensure that WU are crunched and returned on time and that your resource share is followed in the long term. Similarly, your 'Connect to network about every' setting, work on hand, and Long Term Debt are used with WU deadlines to determine how many WU to download from which project.
