I am using BOINC on my laptop for Seti@home and was wondering if there is a way to put a top end limiter on because as with most laptops when it gets too hot to handle it just immediatly cuts power and I have my laptop on a cooling pad with fans and it'll last an hour or so with those external fans on low and if I max them out it'll last a few more hours but be off by the time I wake up which isn't good because it doubles as my alarm clock. Your help would be appreciated.

Remove boinc from the laptop, or service it to remove the dust bunnies and replace thermal compound. I've had 5 different laptops attached over the years and if yours is that close to "failure", then save it by reducing the load or clean it. My new or clean laptops have no issues running boinc. The 100% load placed upon them will hasten it's demise unless properly maintained.

you could google "threadmaster" and reduce the cpu useage.
