I used for a long time the old nice seti@home client on my computers, it was so simple: I just had to install it and it and in a few seconds it was up and running.

Now with the GREAT boinc the only thing I had were problems: the interface by itself is decent but the registration steps are horrible: I don't want to be forced to register to websites just to have some useless stats or newsletters!! Sharing CPU for projects is not a race! I don't care of those useless stats!

I want a simpler registration method: I don't want to be forced all the times I want to change my projects to register on the websites, find my old account passwords&c, and lose time and time to search the mysterious URL to paste in the registration to select the project! I'm sure i'm not the only one that after installing the program and seeing how much time it takes to get it running just quitted and uninstalled it.

PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!!! Make a simpler registration wizard that downloads a list of available projects and that doesn't force people to register through the websites: this is awful! You can't pretend people to lose hours just to find out how to get the program running when they start it.

Desperatefully (does this world really exists? who knows),

Francesco

5.2.13 offers a much easier registration wizard, although it's not called "registration" (it's hidden under "Projects > Attach to project") and you still need to manually find the URL for the project and then cut-and-paste it from your browser into the wizard. From there it's very easy though.

I really like your idea of a drop down list of project names. The URL is really meaningless, and besides, after you connect to a project, you get a handy button that takes you right to the project's web site.

"In desperation ..." works.

Account management websites are very close to launch - you will only have to choose one of them, attach to your chosen one, and then choose the projects you like using account manager. It will then take care of registration and will attach them to your computer.
