It's a 3 day break these days. For work, not for the website, or didn't you read the message on the home page? |

Perhaps the grand server shuffle is taking place. Seeing that the 'normal' minimal network output isn't showing on the Gigabitethernet graph either, I suppose everything is down and out for the count. I wouldn't worry about it. It's also possible they give extra time to the spike table merge, which hasn't gone according to plan. |

Part of me wonders that now that expectations have been set for SETI to be a half-time project (3 days off plus front and back traffic jams every week), that the pressure to keep the non-upload/download elements running might actually be a bit less present. Just a thought. This week, in the 'historic' 4 to 6 hour 'everything' outage is now approaching 24 hours. No database, no message boards. I sort of wonder if perhaps the duct tape and bailing wire that limited resources (limited compared to the number of users for SETI, *not* absolute limited resources compared to virtually any other BOINC project) have gotten to the point that virtually no level of maintenance can keep it reasonably afloat. The project might have found its own event horizon. It's a 3 day break these days. |

A fair amount of the project news stuff for SETI requires access to the newsgroups -- but they do a decent job of it back there. I suspect the current blackout is an unplanned/unexpected event. For that matter, MilkyWay, which has gotten quite sketchy of late (and at the moment also is in full homepage unreachable blackout) has shifted toward the no news is no news approach of status updating of late -- rather unfortunate there.

Milkyway appears (at the moment) to be back up -- though there has been no project message regarding what has been going on there. SETI, as has been noted, is down again -- also with no message on the home page regarding what has been going on there (aside from the standard message regarding the regularized three day upload/download outage each week) |

Enigma@Home is down and out (forums are running, though). The SATA HDDs in the server have started to throw all kinds of errors, which caused TJM to take the project down for now. |

Kevin Reed wrote: We have experienced a major outage. Our SAN filesystems became damaged and were changed over to read only automatically. This caused the databases to go offline and other components of the infrastructure to fail (such as file uploads). We are in the process of restoring service now. Project pages are up, their forums are up, but most everything else is still down. |

Anybody know what happened with Virtual Prairie? They've been down completely for many days. |

DNetC went offline about 7AM PDT -- no access to the web site -- not sure if it is an ISP or server problem. Still dark at 9AM PDT. |

The Enigma@Home project is down again, very possibly due to very bad weather in Poland. I'll try to contact TJM for an update. |

CPDN Main Project Upload Problem uploader.oerc.ox.ac.uk has a problem which is causing uploads to fail with errors like the following: 21/08/2010 20:23:57 climateprediction.net Started upload of famous_uab6_1799_200_006646205_2_6.zip 21/08/2010 20:23:58 climateprediction.net [error] Error reported by file upload server: can't open file 21/08/2010 20:23:58 climateprediction.net Temporarily failed upload of famous_uab6_1799_200_006646205_2_6.zip: transient upload error The cause of the error cannot be investigated until Monday and the resumption of normal service will depend on what's found then. This condition applies to FAMOUS upload files 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18. You might find that other files are also stuck due to the way BOINC backs off uploads under error conditions, but you should be able to force their upload by selecting them in the Transfers tab of BOINC Manager's advanced view and clicking the Retry Now button. As said before, if you have files stuck in Transfers and unable to upload you can either suspend BOINC network activity or take no action. |
