I have BOINC set not to run on startup, but only when I explicitly run the program. Just noticed that despite this, boinctray.exe still hangs out in my task manager. Is there a way to make sure nothing from BOINC runs without my permission short of uninstalling? Searched the forums but didn't find any posts quite on point, thanks for any info anyone can provide. |

Boinctray.exe is the idle detection program checking what your mouse and keyboard are doing. It doesn't do anything else, or as the name suggests store anything in the system tray. It's only needed on Windows Vista and 7. You can stop running it from the registry, or from msconfig->Startup, or if you do not want to reboot, use something like Spybot Search & Destroy's Settings menu to stop it. |
