Greetings, I have started a little side project of mine where I collect up older computers that no longer are used by there owners and starting a small date crunching cluster. I came acoss an issue few weeks back and I am needing a workaround if there is one. I installed Windows 2000 on these machines and then installed BOINC. Everything installed fine. I then attached to my usual projects. Now I don't remember the exact error but I was not able to run any projects. It was informing me that I did not have enough RAM to run the projects. I usually run Einstein and others of the sort. Most of these machines have around 128MB to 256MB. I recall something along the lines of that it would not be able to render the graphics of something of that sort. |

Why don't you look up the exact error message in the log files? It would help us to help you if we knew it. I suspect you perhaps got fooled by a message about missing graphic devices/memory (GPU), which has nothing to do with CPU capabilities/main memory. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Or messages about the system needing 32MB more RAM, because the preferences to use the memory are set very strict. Yes, it's better to have the exact error message. |

We really need to know the ID number of one or more computers on one or more projects so we can then go through the links and find out how the computers are doing. The IDs are near the top of the computer's Boinc manager messages. You'd probably be able to run the current CPDN model called FAMOUS with 256 of RAM, but I'd be very surprised if it ran with 128. When sometime in the next few months the new regional models are launched I'd say they'll need 512 minimum. But if FAMOUS does run you could select just that in the CPDN preferences. |
