Whilst the BOINC I am running in Win 7 64bit is crunching along, the one in Kubuntu Lucid Lynx x64_64 isn't. When I start it up it takes a long time telling me it's searching for localhost, and then says the connection to localhost has been terminated. I've tried putting 'localhost' in the 'attach to computer' with and without the password I found in gui_rpc_auth.cfg in my Win 7-setup, but to no avail. I've copied that file from Win 7 to Linux, with and without the password, no change. Client is running, since it responds to my trying to stop it via the CLI. In short, I've got no idea where the problem is situated and how to resolve it. |

Did you allow both BOINC Manager and the BOINC binary to pass through your firewall on TCP port 31416? BOINC uses this port to talk between its parts. |

Would that be the firewall in Kubuntu itself? If it was the one in my router, BOINC in Win 7 shouldn't be able to run either. Anyway, I had to reinstall Kubuntu due to the fact I inadvertently removed network tools meaning I couldn't attach to any update source anymore so I couldn't re-install them. Whilst re-installing everything after I re-installed BOINC when starting I immediately got the question which project I'd like to attach. So, I'll guess we'll never know what caused it, unless another update I've yet to do once more was the source. |

I've searched high and low but can not find any settings for that one. |
