The password file is: C:\ProgramData\BOINC\gui_rpc_auth.cfg In this file the password is "test" But with that password I don't get an RPC connection to the localhost. I have to give in 47e8db908b91b6e477265dd2f46994d3 and I get a perfect connection. No problem but I can't figure out why. Because it's not the password in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file. I did a system search for this password 47e.. that works ok but I can't find it in any file. I did a search for gui_rpc_auth.cfg but this is the only one on the system. Don't know, but if it was that 47e... the password before changing in to test, you have to restart BOINC client before it recognizes the new password. I know but this computer has already rebooted a couple of times with the new password file. TThrottle The way to control your CPU and GPU temperature. BoincTasks The best view of BOINC. Is the password ?? I checked it nothing except the password. I renamed the file to xgui_rpc_auth.cfg and rebooted the machine. It should make a new gui_rpc_auth.cfg file but it doesn't TThrottle The way to control your CPU and GPU temperature. BoincTasks The best view of BOINC. My other activities |

What kind of editor do you use? Does it save as ANSI or UTF-8? Needs to be ANSI. |

What kind of editor do you use? Notepad A just did a safe as (ANSI), but I'm really sure it was ANSI the first time and a reboot. Strange. TThrottle The way to control your CPU and GPU temperature. BoincTasks The best view of BOINC. My other activities |

And to make it ever stranger. I just copied over the file to a new computer where I just installed the same BOINC version. (latest release 6.10.56 on a XP 32) And... the password is read as it should. TThrottle The way to control your CPU and GPU temperature. BoincTasks The best view of BOINC. My other activities |

I renamed the file to xgui_rpc_auth.cfg and rebooted the machine. There seems to be something stuck. You said you searched the whole machine for another file, did you include hidden files? Does BOINC look in the registry if it doesn't find the file? (Just guessing here.) Gruß, Gundolf |

I renamed the file to xgui_rpc_auth.cfg and rebooted the machine. I always set the machine to show hidden files. The registry, I don't think so but I will take a closer look. TThrottle The way to control your CPU and GPU temperature. BoincTasks The best view of BOINC. My other activities |
