I tried to update my BOINC client to 6.10.56 on my Desktop (Win7 Pro x64) and on my Laptop (Win7 Pro x86), but the installer fails to complete the installation. The installer is trying to locate a file called BOINC.msi but fails at doing so. ![]() I browsed into C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{weird hexcode}, and this directory where the BOINC installer is searching does not even exist. There is another {weird hexcode} folder though, with a BOINC.msi file in it (no, its not from an old installation, i deleted the whole "Downloaded Installations" folder before starting the 10.6.56 BOINC installer. When I pick this BOINC.msi it comes up with the following error message: ![]() Any suggestions? Greetings from Austria, toco |

Assuming that you got a complete / uncorrupted download (check that the file size is correct), the problem isn't to do with installing the new version of BOINC, but with removing the old version - which is done automatically at the same time. Various solutions are described in the BOINC FAQ Service. |

Thanks Richard, problem seems to be solved - I downloaded the old 6.10.43 installer and chose "repair", then I started the 6.10.56 installer again and tadaa. toco |
