Down load of Boinc for my Ubuntu system successful, but it wont let me load it. keep getting this message: "gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu and try again."

Any help from anyone on how to do this would be nice.
Thank you,
Pat

Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.

That's exactly what you are trying to do ;-)

The file is a shell archive and has to be started (as can be derived from the suffix) by
sh boinc_6.10.56_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh

But you shouldn't do that in the /tmp directory, unless you want to install BOINC there.

Gundolf
