I'm running boinc on a Thinkpad T42 laptop. I have different power settings for batter & AC. From the beginning, I've had my Boinc preferences set to suspend on battery. Today, I put the laptop in standby and disconnected the power to travel. When I got to my location and resumed on battery, I noticed my battery was draining quickly. For whatever reason, Boinc did not suspend upon resuming Windows (XP SP2), even though it was set to "Run based on preferences." Once I manually suspended and _then_ reset to Run based on preferences, Boinc stayed suspended, as expected. It leads me to believe Boinc is failing to recognize a power change if the system is on standby when the change occurs. Can anyone verify this? |

I can't confirm that particular issue, however I have seen many reports of irregularities when coming out of stand-by and hibernate. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

There's definitely a bug in the BOINC client libraries related to stand-by and hibernate; if my laptop enters either of those states when running any of the 3 projects I run, it gets the same failure when the laptop resumes: Result * exited with zero status but no 'finished' file If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. request_reschedule_cpus: process exited This happens every time. It's forced me to stop running my favorite client, clientprediction.net, because their workunits run for so very long; if my laptop enters standby once every few days, it's able to make almost no progress on that project. Platform: Win XP SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 300m Has this been reproduced and entered in the bug-list for the BOINC libraries? If not, how does one report such a bug? It does make some projects impossible to run on this laptop... |
