something new, or are we still waiting? Cat 10.9 might have fixed this issue, haven't tried it yet, will undo the workaround and try soon, Claggy |

I just tried with 10.10 and it does not relieve the vga ati in boinc, but at least it connects to localhost and elaborates on the nvidia, I put the 10.2 and should be ok. I hope in 10.11 |

I just tried the work around with ati 10.10 and nvidia 260.99 drivers and lost all direct x function, but boinc saw both cards. The cards being gtx470 and hd5850. |

On my system, which has the 9800GTX+ as the primary card, DirectX is available on it, while the Secondary card (HD5770) shows DirectX features as unavailable, DDI version as unknown, and Monitor as x (not surprised as there's no monitor connected) Since i used the work around i've also lost the Aero effects, Claggy |

hello, I have the Catalyst 10.2 and forceware 260.99 but I have several crash problems with the latest games (need for speed, cod, etc.), so I urgently need to update the catalyst. You assured me that renaming aticfx32.dll and aticfx64.dll, boinc will elaborate and the games will not crash? Because I do not want unnecessary problems with drivers... |

There are NO guarantees as to what will happen with individual computers, because they are all set up differently. Display drivers are written by display card makers. What bugs new versions have, and how they interact with different programs, can only be found out by trying them. |

No, renaming aticfx32.dll and aticfx64.dll might allow you to use the ATI GPU with Boinc, so it detects the ATI GPU correctly, and/or doesn't trash it's work, Side effects seem to be it removes DirectX support from the ATI GPU, and Aero effects across both GPU's, If you need to update your Catalyst drivers to a more recent version, do so, but you may need to disable ATI GPU use in Boinc, eithier by deselecting at your ATI projects: Use ATI GPU if present yes (enforced by 6.10+ clients) or making a cc_config.xml with the following in it: <cc_config> <options> <ignore_ati_dev>N</ignore_ati_dev> </options> </cc_config> Where N is the ATI device no, 0 if you only have one ATI device.
