Just wondering if the computer time/power usage I donate to Boinc projects can some how generate a tax deduction? I have several machines running boinc and when they are idle they still consume electricity which costs me. I'd like to know if I can deduct the power costs to run the computers? |

Just wondering if the computer time/power usage I donate to Boinc projects can some how generate a tax deduction? This has been discussed several time over the years at Seti, and the simple answer is NO. Boinc V 7.4.36 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB NVidia 470 |

And why is that? the computers aren't free and neither is the power to run them. Isn't this the same as making a cash donation to the project of interest? I think this topic needs further detailed discussion. |
