Not sure what the issue is, but I cannot get my 240 to compute. I have the card attached to a monitor and have that display enable with my desktop extended. 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.18 for windows_x86_64 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Running under account Ben 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Processor: 8 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 30 Stepping 5] 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Processor: 256.00 KB cache 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmx 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00) 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Memory: 3.99 GB physical, 7.98 GB virtual 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Disk: 465.76 GB total, 426.16 GB free 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Local time is UTC -5 hours 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 260 (driver version 19562, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.3, 896MB, 667 GFLOPS peak) 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used): GeForce GT 240 (driver version 19562, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.2, 512MB, 257 GFLOPS peak) 1/17/2010 3:44:13 PM Not using a proxy I didn't see anyone else with a "(not used)" sort of issue.... Have you read the "6.10: No GPUs Found" thread? |

Boinc 6.10.x only uses the most Capable GPU by default, to enable the other GPU, you'll need to make a cc_config.xml file, copy the following and paste it into Notepad, then save it as cc_config.xml making sure it doesn't have a .txt extension, then drop the file in your Boinc Data folder, and restart Boinc, you should get a line in Boinc's messages saying: Config: use all coprocessors <cc_config> <options> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> </options> </cc_config> Claggy |

Claggy! That did it. Thank you for the explanation! I did read a lot of threads, but couldn't find anything specific to this, plus I couldn't find my cc_config.xml file. Didn't realize you had to create it. Thank you again. |

For all the options and flags see the Boinc wiki: Client configuration or Boinc FAQ: How do I configure my client using the cc_config.xml file? Claggy |

_ Oops sorry Claggy you are right. I realize now that my post has nothing to do with this issue at hand. I'm still learning:) My mistake. I apologize :( I have learned a lot about NVIDIA GPU from your posts here in this thread. thank you so much for your excellent posts, information and links you provided :) Best Wishes Byron |

I recently upgraded to Win 7, 64 bit and noticed that my cc_config.xml file is ignored. (i.e. I've generated a cc_config.xml file when the <use_all_gpus> flag set, exactly as I used previously in Vista 32 bit with success). I've tried Bionc manager 6.10.18, 6.10.29 and now 6.10.32. Both cards in the PC are identified and the slower card (9800GTX+)is ignored. Is this a known bug? Or: are there additional considerations that I need to take into account? |

Do you see any indications in the Messages tab that the cc_config.xml file is read at all ("Config:" messages, log flags set in cc_config.xml)? In which directory does your cc_config.xml reside? Is there a recent client_state.xml too? Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() |

I found the problem: I appear to have one Program Data and one ProgramData directory - BIONC was aimed at the "ProgramData" directory. Must have fumbled that when attempting to copy over the ongoing work directories during the upgrade. cc_config is now working. Thanks for your response. |
