Hi Folks Since formatting my machine a while back I have not been able to get BOINC to install. I thought I'd wait a while for the new version to be released, but same story. The error I get is Error 1714: Older version of BOINC cannot be removed. Contact technical support group. What gives? Cheers |

Nevermind - found a solution on the web. Download MS Registry cleaner. BOINC was not listed amoung the entries - but at the top was a blank entry. Selecting this sorted the problem. |

Nevermind - found a solution on the web. Download MS Registry cleaner. BOINC was not listed amoung the entries - but at the top was a blank entry. Selecting this sorted the problem. I've used a Registry Cleaner and I still can't get it to install. I've tried several approaches, too. Someone please help. Here's my situation: 1. I downloaded version 5.2.13 for Windows, using Netscape 7.2 2. I ran a virus scan on it -- successfully 3. I shut down every program I had running except for Zone Alarm (firewall) 4. I stopped and 'removed' the client for World Community Grid, using Windows Remove Program agent 5. I ran 'Registry Cleaner', and then created a restore point 6. I attempted to load BOINC, but received the following error message: "Provides all t has encountered a problem and needs to close ..." (snip ... and the data this error report contains is as follows: AppName: boinc_5.2.13_windows_intelx86.exe AppVer: 10.1.0.238 ModName: kmw_dll.dll ModVer: 6.3.4.2 Offset: 00002fc8 etc.") 7. I shut down my computer, and then after restarting I kept only my ZoneAlarm firewall running and again attempted to install; same error message. 8. I reluctantly shut off my firewall and tried again; same error message. 9. I deleted the fire, and loaded M.S. Internet Explorer and then downloaded your program again, thinking that Netscape might have messed it up. 10. Attempted installs again with and without connections to the Internet, and with and without my firewall running; same error every time. Does your program work, or not? I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong. I'm running WindowsXP with all current upgrades on a 2.6ghz system with a Celeron processor, 512mb RAM, 240gb HD. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
