Hello!

This might be a noob question, but depending on my search keywords I got either no or to many search restults...

How do I update the project specific client software?

If I knew the link to the actual client SW, I think I could just exchange the client .exe and(?) .pdb file.

Does Boinc check for new client Software (and offer to update it) automatically?
If not I reccommend this feature or at least a "Check for new client software" feature.

Regards

The WU themselves dictate the application software to be used and it is automatically downloaded.

As stated, the Science Applications that processes the work will be maintained by the project and automatically changed as needed.

The BOINC Client Software is manually changed because automatic updates has a high risk of breaking things. *MY* recommendation to people is to be slow and cautious on updating the BOINC Client Software if it is currently working for you.

For example, I am using 5.2.13 and find it stable; others have problems with it. These problems concentrate in the networking area and are the subject of intense investigation. New development versions are being developed to try to fix the known issues. Soon we may have 5.4.x, or a new 5.2.14 to try. If you are running 5.2.13, and it works, stick with it until there is a compelling reason to upgrade to the newer version.

Then try it slowly ... :)
