Hi, I'm new to Linux but used to running seti/boinc on a Windows machine.

I've installed boinc on Ubuntu and I'm wondering whether there is any way to get boinc Manager to run all the time without having to be minimised to the taskbar. I gather there is no tray feature under linux as there is in Windows.

Is there a shortcut or something I can use when I want to see the manager, or do I have to do it via terminal all the time?

You can set a Shortcut-Icon on your desktop, by pulling the boinc_manager out of the Directory it is (with konqueror or something else) and put it on the desktop, if it asks, say shortcut.
or you link the boincmanager to a directory where it could easily beeing startet:
say your manager is named boinc_magager and it is in /usr/lib/boinc/, then go to that direcotry on the terminal and do that as root: ln -s /usr/lib/boinc/boinc_manager /usr/bin/boinc_manager
then you can start it by pressing Ctrl+F2 and typing boinc_manager (you can rename the link in /usr/bin/ by sayjing eg "ln -s /usr/lib/boinc/boinc_manager /usr/bin/boincmgr"
