I am a long time user and recently lost my computer for about a month. Now have a replacement and have re-attached to my projects1and all is well but seti is giving me a message i have not seen before.
On the tasks tab, status says "running (0.03 cpus, i CUDA). I have a core two duo and there are currently 3 active boinc task running. My other dual core only had 2 running at the same time.
Am running vista home premium 64 bit.

The machine obvously has a CUDA-capable graphics device (the message reads 0.03 cpus, 1 CUDA), which serves as "3rd core".

Gundolf

Gundolf:
Does using the CUDA cpu have any impact on system graphics performance? I notice the seti priority in task manager is "below normal" rather than low like the other tasks. Can I disable usage of that core?

It's not a CPU, but the GPU on your videocard that is used to do calculations with.

A lot more information about CUDA can be found in my FAQ on this subject.

And yes, you can disable using the GPU for calculations, or set up preferences through which the GPU will only be used for these calculations when the computer is otherwise idle. Information about that also in that FAQ, under the point "Can't I turn the damn thing off?".

Maybe we should all rename ourselves to Gundolf. That way, no mistakes. ;-)

I know who you meant, Dennis and you're welcome.
