Upgraded to Snow Leopard and BOINC stopped working. I've uninstalled, downloaded and re-installed the s/w, but am unable to create an new connection.

I've set & reset localhost, but am unable to get a connection to a local client.

Check your firewall settings. 99.9% of the time the message that BOINC Manager cannot connect to a local client means that you didn't allow both the Boinc and the Boinc Manager binaries through your local firewall. All parts of Boinc talk to each other through RCPs on TCP port 31416.

The 0.1% counts for BOINC Manager starting, but the BOINC binary not starting. So check in Top (or whatever it is in SL) if the BOINC binary is actually running.

I'm also getting this problem, even with the Mac firewall turned off in System Preferences. Uninstalling and then re-installing does not seem to help. Is this a known bug?

I'm running World Community Grid with the latest client available from the WCG home page.

Just a note that the latest version available from WCG seems to be 6.2.x, 6.6.x from the BOINC site seems to work fine with Snow Leopard.

I'm getting the same problem. After I installed Snow Leopard, BOINC won't communicate with localhost. My firewall is off and I re-installed the latest version of BOINC (6.6.36). The manager will start, but it won't connect.
