BOINC screensaver not working with Mac. 10.6 (Snow Leopard). The program and projects seem to work fine.

Is there an update coming along soon to fix the problem?

Although BOINC does contain a bit of screen saver code, it is the science/graphics applications of the projects that you run that do the screen saver part. Not all projects have a screen saver or graphics, while those that do do not have them for all the other platforms, mostly Windows only.

So questions:
1. Which projects are you attached to?
2. What kind of graphics card do you run?
2a. Is it fully updated on graphics drivers for the new OS?
3. Which BOINC version are you using?
4. When selecting any of the running tasks, then clicking on the Show Graphics button, does a graphics window open?

Excuse me for involving myself, but my BOINC screensaver doesn't want to run on Snow Leopard, just as Dave Doss. Even if the problem doesn't need, on my point of view, to ansewer to all these questions (Apple warned about broken compatibility issues with Snow Leopard), I'll give you these informations.

1) Projects : SETI@Home, SETI@Home Beta, Rosetta@Home, Einstein@Home and Quake Catcher Network.

2) Intel GMA 950 graphics chip

2a) Fully updated graphics drivers

3) BOINC 6.6.36

4) Yes, graphics are available; nevertheless, the screensaver is replaced my a system message which advises of uncompatible screensaver problem, which prevents its appearance.

I hope these informations will be useful to fix it as quickly as possible.

The projects that I am currently running are SETI@home; Rosetta@home; and, Milkyway@home.

I use:
Mac Mini - IntelCore 2 Duo / 2 Ghz / 1GB Ram
Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 9400

Finally, when I select a running project and click show graphics, the graphics are displayed.

Okay here are the problems I am having with Boinc and Snow Leopard.

I have the OS set to 64 bit.

Boinc runs, but the screensaver does not with the BOINC 6.6.36.

I can choose the screensaver if I turn on 32 bit mode System Preferences, but Boinc screensaver fails to load.

The release 6.10.4 does fully work, both screensaver and Boinc manager

I have just installed BOINC on my MacBook and it does process the projects (SETI, Milkeway and POEM) but when processing is completed, it does not connect to the internet to get updates.
The messages are: "communication deferred" on all three projects.
I'm running Snow Leopard, and I rebooted, still not response. I have disabled my firewall and that made no difference.

Help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

SETI is down. I don't know about MilkyWay and POEM.

Some of the error messages from your Messages tab could help in diagnosing.
