I have two NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ GPU's running SLI together, hopefully making the most of the latest CUDA-enabled BOINC ware... I mean, I got SETI going and went to sleep and when I woke up I had 45 credits... I don't know good that is... ?

But here's what really confuses me:
I don't know how to monitor what the GPUs' usages are, real-time, like my CPU performance monitor, but my CPU performance monitor shows about the same 1-6% usage when a SETI task is crunching as when I've suspended BOINC! When I suspend BOINC my RAM usage goes from 25%(crunching) to 24%(suspended).
Now, I have, under Preferences, all checks in boxes for computing allowed, multiprocessor usage at 100%, CPU usage at 100%, Disk & Memory at defaults, and BOINC Activity is set on Run Always!
So how can mu CPU usage be virtually unaffected, according to both my gaming keyboard LCD readout and the desktop tachometer CPU & RAM widget thing???
I have a liquid-cooled and heavily ventilated quad-core with 8GB RAM.

sli unless your running the beta 2.3 cuda, will on give you 1 gpu to use...

make sure you have use "while in use"... checked.

use "gpu while in use"...

memory: go to disk and memory usage and uncheck leave apps in while suspended...

and please tell us what projects your signed up/using...

i know you got seti but what else. if your only running seti, that doesn't give your pc enough work im my own opinion... make sure in preferences of seti, you have use cpu, and gpu checked if thats your wish...

also you may have pending work in seti but can't view it do to a part of seti that is not running b/c of a server problem...

i have 4,000 credits in seti pending

also a quad, you can run 4 cpu task at once... and 1-2 gpu task.. so, with sli off, you could run a total of 6 task at once.

That happens when you have downloaded only GPU tasks.

SETI currently has only very few AstroPulse tasks to deliver and some BOINC versions don't request MultiBeam tasks for GPU and CPU on their own.

You didn't tell us your BOINC version.

Okay, now the CPU usage goes to 100% -- before, it must have been like Gundolf said and I had GPU-only tasks at the time. All of my settings were as stated: everything max'ed out.
I have v6.6.36 running on Vista 64.

I am only using SETI... ZPM says he doesn't think that's giving my PC enough work; I thought when the settings were maxed it used all the resources available to crunch as much as possible, even if just from the one project i.e. I'm now crunching a bunch of SETI tasks simultaneously and my CPU usage stays at 100% often, sometimes in the high 70's temporarily... I can't help but think if I added another project it would cut my SETI efficiency significantly
My goal is currently to crunch as much SETI as possible. I mean, if it wouldn't slow SETI down hardly at all, I would like to find a quasar and name it or whatever (LOL), help medical organic chemistry etc., but I am 99% dedicated to SETI.

Yes, in principle. However, SETI currently has problems supplying enough tasks to all participants.

[edit]You could set your resource share between projects to reflect your 99% dedication for SETI ;-)[/edit]
