In 6.6.20 I just close boinc manager. It was perfectly ok and used to stop BOINC completely. In 6.6.31 client still running in the background. I tried to "snooze", but that made me jump after freaking thing for some reason autostarted later on. So the only way to stop boinc is to suspend projects one by one? That is inconvenient. And, for some reason BOINC start to "download" all already downloaded and ready to run WUs. Take few minutes to do several dozens of them before boinc stops completely... Not to mention that I have to click every project and suspend it one by one.

Snooze will suspend for one hour. It's just like the snooze function on your bed-side clock: press snooze to sleep for another 10 minutes. In this case 1 hour.

As for the stopping problem, there are reports that 6.6.31 doesn't exit upon stopping BOINC Manager. Could you please state what operating system you see this on? For the statistics.

You can return to 6.6.28 if need be.

As Jord says, there are reported problems. A workround seems to be Advanced view, advanced menu --> 'Shut down connected client' before exiting.

But the more information to help the developers track down the problem, the better.

Problem with 6.6.31 was on Vista 32bit Home premium.

In 6.6.20 I right click BOINC Manager icon in the system tray, choose "Exit" and BOINC completely stops/gone from memory and no icon in systray.

In 6.6.31 when I do the same, BOINC keeps crunching in a "stealth" mode - I need to bring Task manager to see actual processes or use SideBar utility that monitor processor cores load. BOINC manager icon in system tray is gone in the meantime. Snooze do work fine for that hour, but when I stop BOINC, I need to stop it for few hours at least...

Just checked, looks like posted workaround is exactly what I want. Advanced view, Advanced menu --> 'Shut down connected client' do stop BOINC, and then when I ready to start crunching again, I just connect to localhost...

I have the same problem in Vista Ultimate 32bit. :( Going back to 6.6.28.

I am running 6.6.31 on Windows 7/64 The application snoozes correctly but does not shut down the running Boinc applications when I exit Boinc Manager. This is true even when I have 'Stop running science applications when exiting the Manager' selected. The easiest way of suspending/resuming multiple tasks is to use the control key and select all the ones to suspend before selecting Suspend. Do the same to Resume.

You could suspend the projects instead - I imagine you have fewer projects than WUs. And on both tabs, you can multi-select them all and suspend them with one click.

But if you do that, it tends to mess with your debt values and everything. Better to shut down connected computer. Glad it worked, and you liked it.

That proposal was to use the Activity menu, not the Suspend button in any tab. That suspends BOINC with two clicks and no timeout!

New version of BOINC 6.6.36 seems to fix this issue. I can now kill all WUs when I exit the BOINC Manager.

Tried 6.6.36 64 bit on Vista 64 bit last night - fresh install (not as a service) and was still unable to stop apps through normal app close.

Please open BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Advanced->Options.

Which of the options are checked?
"Run Manager at login?"
"Enable Manager exit dialog?"

When you exit the manager, do you get the exit-options box and did you check the "Stop running science applications when exiting the Manager" ?

I have just gone back and checked this. I had all settings as you say. On trying it now, it shuts down all apps as it should do.

As a quick off the top of my head I can only think that I didn't do a reboot after the new install and that perhaps one of the old apps was stuck in memory after the previous close and I hadn't spotted it. (Odd though because I'm sure I tried it a few times having stopped the client to make sure all apps had exited).

The only other possibiity was the gremlins were plalying tricks on me that day!

Certainly from switch on now, 6.6.36 is behaving as it should on my Vista64 non-service PC which was the only one I was experiencing this issue with.
