Message 24968 - Posted: 20 May 2009, 22:20:21 UTC

I have not run Boinc for some time since my pc was being rebuilt. Now every time I attempt to install any version of Boinc I receive the following message:

Internal Error 2718
{15A8F44D-2678-444C-8F74-C84E977CFSE2}

Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks

Use Microsoft's Installer Cleaner to get rid of the corrupt BOINC installation file (.MSI). It'll probably be at the top, having either no name or a corrupt name.

Sorry, which version?
Have you tried to just reinstall that version over itself, doing a repair install?
Have you tried a reboot between installations?

I'm doing a new install. The hard drive I had it on died. I have 3
250gig hard drives; all new. Now most of what I had was ghosted over from my old drives, but Boinc was lost. The versions I have tried to installed are
6.628, 6.4.7 and 5.8.16. No matter which drive I use, I receive the same error. I have rebooted in between cleaning the registery and after every attempt to install. After every failed attempt I have clean the registery and rebooted. Same problem. I'm running XP pro also.

Okay problem solved. Did a Regedit and took every thing out the was
Space Science Laboratory and Boinc.msi. Rebooted and used the regestery cleaner
you advised, rebooted and the install worked.

Thank you very much.

Sounds a rather similar episode to the error 1327 described in [trac]#815[/trac].
