I have recently switched from classic SETI to BOINC, but have been idle ever since. The error message I am receiving is:
12/19/05 12:56:26 AM|SETI@home|Message from server: Your computer has only 66539520 bytes of memory; workunit requires 569344 more bytes
I am running Windows 98. Does this mean I have been excluded from participation?
Thanks. Lee

Temporarily, at least. SETI requires 64MB free _after_ the OS is loaded. With only 64MB in the machine, this will never happen. However, the "SETI_enhanced" application that they are working on will run with only 32MB free, although it will run much longer per result.

You _might_ be able to get working right now, short of upgrading your memory, by installing an optimized SETI science application, which doesn't have the graphics code in it, and therefore should take less RAM. You need to be looking on the SETI boards though, as a) that's where you'll find info on optimized SETI apps, and b) this is a SETI issue, not a BOINC issue; there _may_ be other projects that _could_ run on your machine. I don't know, as my smallest has 384MB, so I haven't paid attention to the RAM requirements of the other projects.
