while trying to install Boinc I get the error message "Error 1327 invalid drive f:\" Since I do not have a drive F I do not know what to do.

Are you actually trying to upgrade an existing installation of BOINC?
If so, then you've probably cleaned up your computer at some point, including the msi file needed to un-install this old version.
