Ok... I've been wanting to get to the bottom of something for awhile now. I use both BOINC and I separately run folding@home. While folding@home raises the gpu temp to similar levels, it does not cause the card to generate heat within the pc the way boinc does (my card exhausts from the rear). It also doesn't kick in a sound a lot like multiple fans starting up from within the card (not the primary fan as that sounds totally different).

What I want to know is what boinc is doing differently..what causes the card to throw off heat inside the case while its running (as even my games don't cause this), and what that new fan noise is, as I'm 100 percent positive it isn't the cooling fan that runs normally. I have a recording of when that kicks in if needed; it kicks in regardless of whether I tell it to 'use gpu while computer is in use'.
