Now i am not very good with software or anything but would it be possible to make some boinc software for a smartphone. So many people have them now and like the iPhone and the G1 many of them can download apps, so i think that making a app for these various phones could be a good idea.

See BOINC for unusual devices ? and others on various fora (SETI, Einstein).

What about all the hours I have my phone plugged in and charging? I'd be happy to plug it in and start a BOINC app right before heading to bed. I'm sure others would, too.

I THINK it will be difficult to for some projects, because some WUs are really big sized and the storage capacities of some devices are really "small" and the biggest point, some WU take ages to finish on normal CPUs, and will even take much longer on smartphone CPUs, designed for low power consumtion and low performance.

in my opinion that would only possible with a two path strategy for WUs. like big chunks for PCs and small chunks for smartphones.
I think this will be difficult.
but that's just for current smartphones, somewhen they will be better capable ;).

but I also had such an idea and would use it ;).
