I run 3 projects.

2 of them give extremely long duration workunits. I've set them on the web sites to get only 0.04 days of work. So they don't get new workunits till the current ones are less than one hour left to finish.

On the 3rd project it only has very small duration workunits available only about every 10 days. So I set this project to get 10 days on it's web site.

How do I stop the local preferences in BOINC manager from over-riding these settings with it's one setting for all projects mentality? It seems to take priority over the web settings. Can I shut off the local preferences completely and just use the web preferences?

Just click the Clear button to get rid of the local settings, and then click Cancel to exit from the screen.

OK tried that....Clicked clear and looked at each web site settings and noted they were all set the way I wanted. Then as soon as BOINC updated one of the projects it looks like the web sites all change their settings to match the last setting made as all the projects changed to 10 days. Then when I set one of the projects web pages back to 0.04 days, all 3 projects web pages changed to 0.04 days after any update to the projects from BOINC.

So am I to guess that I can't have different settings here for each project?
It doesn't seem to matter whether the BOINC mgr is cleared or not, the last setting done in a web page seems to change all the projects to that latest setting as soon as BOINC manager communicates with them.

OK thanks for the info....

I like working with both ClimatePrediction.net, Docking@Home, and especially LHC@Home but they are so different in requirements.

I had hoped to be able to tweak them to get lots of LHC on the few occassions they give workunits and keep CPDN from getting too many of those 200+ hour workunits.

I guess I'll just have to tweak BOINC manager around the two bigger projects and just watch for LHC and manually change things when I notice there is activity.

Don't micro manage. Set it and forget it.

set the cache to 5-10 days
set each project priority=1 set lhc to 100

Boinc will balance the two projects but if lhc has work it will try to get all it can.

"Get X days of work" is a global preference; it can't be set for individual projects. BOINC tries to get a total of X days of work, from all projects.
