How do I delete a dead computer and add a new one.
I dual boot winxp and linux.
The account I had with the dead computer I want to use on linux (already using, but it still thinks I have the old slow dog computer).

Two different things - you have (or should...) ONE "account", FiascoBro37. You can have one or many "hosts" (computers) within this account, attached to a project.

If you copied the entire BOINC folder from one computer to another, you copied with it the information that identifies the computer, so the project doesn't know that there is a new 'host'. (Project shows one host, the old one.) The simplest way to cause the project to "reidentify" the host is to run the cache dry (no new work and wait for all to finish) then "detach" from the project then "attach" to the project. The detach will delete all the files from that project - including the ones identifying the 'old' computer - and the attach will cause it to create all new ones.

If you are saying that the project shows two hosts already, the old and the new, then you should do nothing. The old host's results will eventually be cleared from the project and you can delete that host on the website, or just ignore it.

Originally I started running Boinc on a computer with Win Me and a 667 mhz processor. I created a team. Then I bought another computer with Win XP and an AMD 64 processor and created another account and joined the Team.
The Win Me comp died before anything could be saved.
So on the Win Xp comp that dual boots, I installed Boinc on the Linux side.
When I am on Win XP with the second account, it shows 2 comps, Win XP amd 64 &
Win Me. If I boot to Linux and log on Boinc with the 1st account, check comp's and it show's Linux AMD 64 and Win Me. When logged in with Win XP, it runs a complete job in 4-6 hours. The old Win Me took 24 Hours +/- which is what it takes Linux AMD 64 to do. Maybe everything is ok, just maybe BOINC is slow in Linux?
I have detached the project several times, but still takes forever to get results.
I'll go ahead and let it complete and upload them and see what happens.
Restarted a new project last night (the 17th), still got 19 hours to go this AM,
so bear with me please and thanks for the help.

Why would you create another account?

I don't know how many credits you've earned in each of these accounts, but this sounds extremely confusing. Why do you even _want_ more than one account? Can't you just pick one and use it?

BOINC doesn't do any processing. The project's science applications do the processing. So BOINC doesn't care what the OS is. Questions about speed should be addressed at the individual project's boards.

Detaching from a project is a "last resort", unless you are going to just quit running that project. PLEASE do not "reset" or "detach", unless you are told to do so by someone helping you debug a specific issue. You are causing tremendous problems for yourself.

A _new_ project? I think you would be better served by sticking to whatever projects you are already running, until you get your problems solved. Please read at least the "getting started" guide in the Wiki, and search for information on hosts and accounts, and get a good understanding of the way this all works. I'm not sure that I'm understanding what you are doing, but I think you have a basic misunderstanding somewhere, and this is making things very complicated for you that should be quite simple.

What you are starting is a new work unit, not a new project. Projects are Einstein, CPDN, Seti, Rosetta, etc. Workunits are individual pieces of work within one of the projects.

Though if it takes 19+ hours to process, it may seem like a whole project, I guess. LOL
