Every once in a while, this happens. I have to turn off screensaver and let it re-start to make sure it's really running. Anybody know why this happens? I'm running WinXP home, SP2. Thanks for your help. Christopher Pikula Waltham, MA USA |

There is one thing to check first. Under 'general preferences' in your account (you will need to go to a project site for these) do you have 'do work whilst computer is in use' set to 'no'? If that is the case, compare that with the delay before the screensaver kicks in. For example, if you had the BOINC delay set to 6 minutes, and the screensaver to 5 minutes, then you would get this. |

I seem to have the same (or a similar) problem. When the screensaver first starts it's fine, but once BOINC switches projects, the screensaver says "BOINC is not running". When I exit and restart the screensaver, it shows the graphics for the current project again, and all looks normal. When this happens, Boinc Manager also stops responding from the system tray, but according to the screensaver (after I restart it), work is still being done by the core client. I can do an End Task on Manager, and start it up again without incident. I can run BOINC constantly in the background for hours on end while doing other things, and never have problem with the manager locking up. It's just when the Screensaver is running , and it switches projects. I have it set to "Run always", and "Network activity always available". I have it installed for Single User, and set to run at login (I'm the only user on this computer). I'm thinking this may be a memory issue for me.
