I unchecked "When computer is in use" with a 1 minute configuration in the BOINC manager preferences. But it doesn't work: when I start BOINC manager, it doesn't start the projects and display: "Suspending network activity - user is active". After 1 minute, the projects start crunching ("resuming network activity") - and never stop again no matter if I move the mouse, type on the keyboard or do anything else with the computer. I run BOINC manager 6.4.5 on 64 Bit Linux. I wonder it it says "NETWORK activity" ... of course, the preferences setting is usage of the CPU - not the network. BOINC 7.2.42 (x86_64) on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 (64 Bit), AMD APU 7850K 3.7 GHz, 32 GB RAM. |

- and never stop again no matter if I move the mouse, type on the keyboard or do anything else with the computer. See this thread answer b). I run BOINC manager 6.4.5 on 64 Bit Linux. What did you set in BOINC manager Activity menu -- "Run based on preferences" and/or "Network activity based on preferences"? Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) |

Both based on preferences ... Okay, then it's perhaps a bug, but I can't check, because I still run 5.10.45 (and 5.8.16 :-). Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) |

I just updated to the latest 6.6.4 BOINC version (Linux 64 Bit) and there's no progress: it also doesn't work with the latest version. :-( BOINC 7.2.42 (x86_64) on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 (64 Bit), AMD APU 7850K 3.7 GHz, 32 GB RAM. |

I just updated to the latest 6.6.4 BOINC version If you do not plan to test development versions, then do not update to the "latest 6.6.4 version". The latest version for Linux 64bit is 6.4.5. It sounds like your local preferences aren't written away. Do you see a message such as "Reading preferences override file" in your Messages when you Save the preferences? |
