I keep getting this message when I attempt to run the BOINC manager for SETI & Rosetta: Message from server: platform '' not found. I have read a variety of articles indicating this is because these project do not supply 64 bit apps and the way to get around it is to install 32 bit packages. I have done this, but still get this message. I have also considered creating a custom app_info.xml file, but I am unsure what executable info name I should be placing in this file. I have also attempted to install and run the most current version for 64 bit linux - 6.2-15, but when I attempt to run the client or manager, I get an error related to GLIBC_2.4. The BOINC help on this indicates I should install the newer version of libc, but I believe a newer version is only available under the "testing" version of Debian (lenny). System info: Debian Linux 64 bit "Etch" (stable) BOINC manager 5.4.11 (installed using apt) Intel Core Duo |

Yeah, however the Debian maintainers compiled BOINC got the platform screwed up. And isn't Etch ancient? (sorry, I'm a Fedora person) You might want to uninstall using the package manager and install by hand. I use these instructions. Kathryn :o) |
