I just installed 6.2.19 over an older version (probably 5.x) and it's wanting to reboot... BUT, this system's not scheduled to be rebooted for at least another 6-12 months. I poked around the registry but didn't see any obvious entries in the usual locations (Run/RunOnce). I'd rather manually handle what it needs than leave Boinc offline on this system until the next scheduled reboot. What does Boinc need the reboot for, and where is it putting the info to trigger whatever that is? |

BOINC 6.x installer just created new user accounts and groups on your machine. Your user account was made part of the boinc_admin group. Groups only take effect on login. So the truth is you don't have to reboot. You only have to logout and back in. However, only an actual reboot will disable the trigger that makes the manager refuse to start up. But you can delete the file manually: C:\Documents and settings\All users\Application data\BOINC\RebootPending.txt Until you logout and back in, the manager (running on your user account) won't be able to access BOINC core client, because it has to read some files with no global read permission, only read permission for group boinc_admin. And you aren't part of that group until you re-login :) |

Thank you much! That did what I needed it to, no full reboot required. |
