AMD Athlon 64 3200+, XP SP2, ATI All in Wonder 9800 graphics.

I've been running BOINC for a number of years and have just upgraded to Version 6.2.19. Now 90% of the time when the screen saver runs it freezes the screen. CTRL->ALT->DEL has no effect and the PC has to be re-booted.

This problems seems to be independent of project and occurs with Einstein, CPDN and SETI but appears to be linked to the upgraded Manager.

Any suggestions on solving this problem will be gratefully appreciated.

There have been several threads about this on the boards. You could check here, at SETI or at Einstein. That's where I'm visiting regularly.

If I recall correctly, mostly it is about video drivers.

My advice is: either revert to 5.10.45 (works fine for me) or don't use the BOINC screensaver, since it anyway steals cycles from the science application. My screensaver goes to blank screen.

Although I searched this board I couldn't find a solution to this problem. It does seem, however, from your post that others have encountered it.

I DO want to use the screensaver but don't want to spend my life searching endless message boards to get it working. It seems like there may be a problem with BOINC 6.2.19 but are there any answers?
