I have a Slak linux box that I used to run setiathome on, but boinc keeps telling me"FATAL: kernel too old". Spec says upwards of 2.2.14 should be ok, I'm on 2.4.26. Anyone have any idea on this?

Which BOINC version are you using?
Did you get it from your package manager or from Berkeley?

Downloaded from Berkley, http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php, using 5.10.45.

Output looks like this, where it hangs and repeats:

Version info:

Linux version 2.4.26 (root@tree) (gcc version 3.3.4) #6 Mon Jun 14 19:07:27 PDT 2004

I get the feeling I'm missing something simple and overly-obvious.

I don't know anything about linux versions/brands, but you could try to run setiathome_enhanced version 5.27 instead of 6.03. I was forced to do so, because windows NT4 is no longer supported.

See this thread at the SETI Message boards. I know, it's about windows, but the procedure should be quite the same for unix (my annotations there too :-).
