I recently upgraded from single to dual-core computer (core 2 duo E8400 3GHz) running XPSP3 and Boinc 6.2.19. At first two work units would run and the CPU usage was 100%. Later the 2 tasks would be "running" but one was not doing anything, and CPU usage was down to 50%. after many hours there was no progress. I checked my preferences: computing allowed while computer is is in use - checked; use 100% of multiprocessors; use 100% of CPU time. I eventually aborted the stalled task, and a new task would start and run as expected. However after awhile one task would stall again. |

I have several E8400 computers running under Win XP and Boinc 6.2.19. They process the longer CPDN models in about 1500 hrs, I find them very reliable, and stable. GW3PRV John. |

After reading < http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17033 >, I decided to try pressing the 'clear' button on the boinc manager preferences dialog, then re-checking the computing allowed boxes. This results in both tasks running again, at least for a while. I can't otherwise find any reason for this behavior. |
