I've noticed in the latest release that my projects are "stuck" in memory after I've closed the core client. I don't have the "Leave tasks suspended in memory" option switched on and I've reinstalled BOINC on XP and Vista.

How do you close BOINC? Just by closing BOINC Manager?
I ask as you may have BOINC installed as a service, which means that closing BOINC Manager won't shut down BOINC.

See Service install = Protected Application Execution mode for more information on this. That post will also show how to shut down BOINC completely.

Yeah I tried that but it always asks me to restart the service manually in the Services applet. Gets annoying after the first few times.
