Boinc runs both my CPUs at 100% regardless of settings on Vista Biz 64. It completely ignores the settings under preferences and runs at 100% all the time regardless of if it's in screensaver mode or not. It will give up only enough CPU to allow other programs to run so the my CPU is always 100% on both cores. The only way to stop this is to suspend Seti or its projects, then the CPU drops to normal. Any help would be appreciated. Nothing exotic or strange in the machine.

Make sure that boinctray.exe is allowed to run and it indeed running.

Been reading lots of complaints about this lately so I tried unchecking "while computer is in use" and setting "only after computer has been idle for" to 10 minutes. The science apps do not get suspended. Tested on version 6.2.15 for Linux.

I'd fill out a Trac ticket for it but I don't think it will do much good.

I think it's already in Trac. The keyboard and/or mouse detection is broken. There was a discussion on one of the lists a while back as well.

Thanks to all for the help. Yes the boinctray.exe is running and it still takes 100% of both CPUs all the time so it looks like not only is the keyboard/mouse detection broken but it doesn't check anything in the prefs file, at least on my machine. O well I can live with turning it off in the AM and on when I leave but it misses a lot of dead time durring the day when I'm not using the computer that way. Hopefully it will all be fixed soon.

Hmmm, hey folks, if I understand correctly, mtn586 is talking of Windows (where the boinctray.exe was reported to not work correctly a couple of versions ago, but IIRC was repaired afterwards), whereas Dag made the tests on Linux (where I do remember few emails about issues on many Linux distros and also the mentioned ticket [trac]#463[/trac]).

A mis-match in my eyes.

I'd check mtn586's prefs and venues...

Hello
Don't you think that this problem can be linked also to mine?
see http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=3180

Please remind that I have seen my problem on windows xp 64 bit only, it works perfectly on windows xp 32bit. Such differences in the behaviour can be nothing else than a bug, I assume.

Sorry to insist, my own problem is not related to a detection problem, please see
my post :

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=3180

and you will understand. I have done all the standard investigations, and other users have found the same behaviour
