Make sure you allowed BOINC through your firewall on ports 80 and 443. |

i have the same problem and error code 417 this has been a problem for days now I've reduced the messages down to the few which are relevant. 12/10/2008 1:51:01 PM|SETI@home|Fetching scheduler list The first pair of messages indicate that there's no problem. The second pair indicate that the message included an "Expect: 100-continue" header line which something is unable to handle correctly. The master file fetch uses HTTP GET and the work request uses HTTP POST. The GET method doesn't use send an "Expect: 100-continue" header. The POST method does. My guess is that your requests are passing through an intermediate HTTP 1.0 proxy. They doesn't recognise the "Expect: 100-continue" header, and RFC2616 requires the previous hop server to discard the message and send a "417 Expectation Failed" status response. To fix this you'll need to force BOINC to use HTTP 1.0 by creating the file cc_config.xml in your BOINC data directory. The file needs to contain the following: <cc_config> <options> <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> </options> </cc_config> "The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer |
