Is anyone aware of how to get an invitation to join this project. It has been over a year and it is still not open for recruitment.

Hm, then it's no surprise that I can't attach as a new user to docking@home. :-(
BOINC 7.2.42 (x86_64) on Linux Ubuntu 16.04 (64 Bit), AMD APU 7850K 3.7 GHz, 32 GB RAM.

The new website caused a problem with anyone attaching, even existing accounts. Boinc clients couldn't get a file they needed as part of the attachment process. You should be able to attach now.
