Apologies if someone else has brought this up before--couldn't see a way to search threads. Several times a day when I am working on my PC I get the message "BOINC needs a connection to the Internet to perform some maintenance, open the BOINC manager to connect up and perform the needed work." Needless to say, it's starting to get annoying. Since I don't run BOINC in the background (only as screensaver), I figure this isn't a request to upload data to my project and download new work. Is the program trying to update? And if so, why does it need to do this several times a day? Thanks for any insight. |

Under Options, the Connections tab, if you have "Automatically detect network connection settings", try changing it to "Use my LAN connection" - or vice versa. Please report back if this works for you, have had one other report of this, they went off to try it and never came back, so I'm only assuming it worked! |

Thanks, Bill, that did the trick. My original setting was "Automatically detect," and I haven't had any annoying messages since I switched it to "Use my LAN". Hooray! |
