On WinXP startup BOINC loads and the manager window appears, but no project data is loaded. It doesn't matter if it's shared install or single user install (even though this PC is single user) it still complains "Prouct Not Installed". I've tried reinstalling... still get the error. |

Are you saying that BOINC is telling you that you are not attached to a project? If so, you should read this page of the BOINC-Wiki. |

Yea, no, I'm not that thick... It just opens and says "Product Not Installed". After a while it does seem to work (I've never left if for near 10mins like I did just now before), but why do I get the error anyway? |

It just opens and says "Product Not Installed". Does "it" happen to tell you WHAT product is not installed? And what "it" is telling you this? Is it a window, a message in BOINC, something in the Windows system tray? |

It just opens and says "Product Not Installed". "It" only happens now I have installed BOINC and "it" is a system dialog (i.e. popup box). BOINC is the only thing that has been installed since the error has been appearing. It is not a virus, trojan or anything else. It's an error that is somehow related to BOINC. |

It is not a virus, trojan or anything else. It's an error that is somehow related to BOINC. I'm not trying to imply that it's not BOINC-related. But without knowing more than you're telling us, all we can do is guess, and tell you that it's not a normal BOINC behavior. To begin to solve the problem, we have to know exactly what it says, and all the details on how it shows up. A screenshot would be even better. You just haven't given us enough to work with, unless someone has seen the exact same thing and recognizes it from your description. |
