My System: A New Emachine pc, running Widows XP, latest version with dial up connection to internet! Asking for help! Running Bonic Software latest Windows version.

A month ago, I downloaded the new Bonic Software and it appeared to work OK, however I had not expected it to be so drastically different from the "Seti Classic Software". Anyway, I set up an Account with "Seti and Bonic" and attached to the Seti Project fairly eaisly. I had run some 48 work units when all of a sudden nothing seemed to work right! So I uninstalled all the Bonic Software and deleted any references to it in my Program File etc. Re downloaded the latest Windows version again, now I can't get anything to work like it did originally. It installs OK, but nothing except Benchmark Runs! When I try to reattach to an Account and Project: I get the message; "The URL you entered is not a Bonic based project". I am entering the URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ . I have tried several other URL's but it seems no matter what I put in I get the same message. As of now, I have uninstalled the software numerous times and redownloaded and reinstalled the software at least 4 times and I get the same message when I try to reattach to my Account or Project! After installing it does not appear that it connects to the server to get any work units? When I click on the "Update" tab the Bonic program states the following "Bonic is connecting to the internet" I can hear this process and it dials the number and as soon as it connects, I imediately get the message "Bonic has sucessfully disconnected from the internet". I've resetup my internet setting several times but Bonic Manager does the same thing connects and disconnects imediately! I have tried on numerous occasions to "Reset" the Bonic Software, but nothing seems to work! I am so frustrated with trying to get going on this New Bonic Stuff that I am considering droping out alltogether. Please if someone could help me, I would certainly appreciate it! You may get better help at the Seti helpdesk forums. If you promise to call it BOINC from now on. :)
Tell which BOINC version you are running. Try Boinc 5.2.13 which is the latest.

Jesse,

You might want to try running the installer program again, without uninstalling as a repair install, and then reboot your machine.
