I installed BOINC yesterday, and now I'm 7% complete with my first work unit. What do I have to change, so that I can complete more work units. Or, is this the pace of BOINC. |

Depends on which project you are attached to. BOINC itself doesn't crunch any work units. It's the science applications that do. |

That depends on the speed and amount of L2 cache of your CPU, amount of RAM etc. There are some optimized for CPU BOINC versions and Seti clients available. Look for threads on them in the Seti Number Crunching forum, or go directly to Marisan's site. Try to find some answers in the BOINC Wiki. And know that we are Beta testing a new version of the Seti client that will take even longer. It will use the same work units as ever, but manage to get up to 75% more data out of them than the present client can. It will take 10 times as long to crunch a unit than at present speed with the stock cruncher 4.18 That client will be used soon. If you have any further questions about the optimized clients, best ask them on the Seti NC forum (link above. You can only post in it if you have received credits already. Else post in the Seti Helpdesk forums. |

Are you still running classic seti? It seems that when others have had similar problems that is usually the problem. Classic runs at a higher priority than BOINC and doesn't let it have much CPU time. Generally times between classic and BOINC should be fairly close unless you are using an optimized app, which will result in BOINC times being much faster. |
