For some reason, my BOINC hasn't been starting lately, and whenever I try to start it, I get this error message:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Also, even though I query the manager once, it gives me said error message twice. Why could this be?

This isn't a BOINC error, but a Windows error. Something in your Windows is broken. Check in Event Viewer what is giving the error and see which event ID it has.

that would explain why most the rest of my windows programs have been giving me grief as of late...it randomly started just last night, too...

I think your best course of action is to do a repair of Windows. It sounds like you're infested with something, but if you can't run anything...

Although, you could try to download and run Hijack This.

I once saw a trojan that changed the file association for .exe files to always run the trojan. Now that's a scary thought...
