As mentioned in the install screen, you should normally have no access tho the graphics and screen saver... but it's false, everything works well, I've just used the localsystem account and checked "allow the service to interact with the desktop" That is not false, it is a security issue, because BOINC and the project applications are running then with system administrator privilegies. That is not a by BOINC supported policy. It works and it is you decision how high the risk should be. I personal use it too in this way on some not so interesting host. It's broken again :( . It has been working well since 5.2.13 was released, but now it doesn't want to work no matter what I try. I may try to run it again as a service or scrapt it altogether and wait for a stable release. Sorry, but it's frustrating this program. SETI worked so well... |

In case someone is interested, to manually create the service that runs the client boinc.exe you have to type this: >sc create BOINC binPath= "C:\\Archivos de programa\\BOINC\\boinc.exe -daemon" start= auto DisplayName= BOINC type= own obj= LocalSystem >sc description BOINC "Provides all the infrastructure for BOINC to download workunits and process them without user interaction." >sc start BOINC Replace "C:\\Archivos de programa" with your %ProgramFiles% location. Under Windows 2000 and NT you need the resource kit to get the sc.exe command line tool. Once you do this, BOINC will work, but without screen saver. If you later want to delete the service, just type "sc delete BOINC". Remember that if you register boinc.exe as a service this way and later want to uninstall or upgrade BOINC, you have to delete the service before. |

Not sure what happened, but 5.2.13 started working all by itself without me doing anything. Hmmm. |

The same thing happens here. Now it's running again (not in service mode). Weird. |
