Hi.
I'm now running Predictor@Home.
This project doesn't have a screeensaver so I get the default BOINC screensaver.
I don't mind that, but is there a way to replace the BOINC logo with another picture?

Best regards,
Franois

If Windows or Linux, I have no idea, will have to wait on someone else to answer... If Mac, I _think_ it can be done, but I'd have to do some digging to be sure. All depends on how they built the package.

Not without changing to a different screensaver or recompiling BOINC on your own.

I'm currently running BOINC, with time devoted to SETI, Einstein, and Predictor (in that order). As was said, Predictor doesn't have neat graphics like Seti or Einstein. Right now when BOINC runs it is showing the logo with Predictor status. Is there a way that I can get Einstein graphics to show up instead, and if so, how? Thanks!!

No, sorry there isn't. The graphics code is built in in the science application, so you can only see the Einstein screensaver when Einstein is running.

Thanks for the comments.
It'd be nice, and probably quite simple for the developers, to put an option to display an external picture file, say in BMP format of a given size, instead of the BOINC logo, with the default screen saver.
Just an idea!

Take care,

Well, since BOINC is Open Source, you could build it in yourself. :)

Well, I don't have the tools and knowledge, sorry!
I wouldn't ask or suggest if I was able to do it myself.

You never answered if you were on Mac, Windows, or Linux. I have looked, and I believe I can change the image in the Mac version. I _do_ have the tools. :-)

Why bother to try to change the BOINC screensaver when you can easily make one of your own, and select that to run?

The BOINC screensaver is nevertheless informative; it shows the progress percentage. I also want to give the maximum CPU time to BOINC, so I'm avoiding another, different, scrensaver.

To get the maximum cpu for crunching, DON'T use a screensaver!
This is one of the tricks used in cpdn.

Also, don't leave BOINC sitting in a tab where the info keeps getting updated, even if you minimise it. I use the Transfer tab.

Thanks, Les, for the tip - I never thought of Boincmgr window updating impacting crunchtime. Maybe if I apply that, I'll be able to keep Einstein times under 5 hrs on a consistent basis. Re: screensaver, I watched Einstein's (maybe the best of the Boinc-powered projects' screensavers) months ago, for about 2 minutes, turned it off, deleted the Boinc.scr file from Windows folder, and haven't looked back. :-)
