I have installed the latest boinc software and have chosen local lan connection under options. My internet provider says it doesn't use url or socks proxy. When I attach to the project it asks for the url and socks porxy, port, user name and password for the project. I am leaving the url, socks proxy and port blank and enetering my username and password--but it won't connect--I just get the url and socks proxy window again. Any help would be appreciated. please e-mail me at [email protected]. thank you

It's probably just that the servers are very busy at the moment with everyone converting to BOINC. Try again at other times. Or you could join another project to see if is any better.

What I tried that worked was to use the select computer option under file. I left everything blank and the system allowed me to communicate. After that the system allowed me to attach to a project (SETIATHOME) Good luck!

I had the same problem. What I did was, Select "File" from the BOINC Manager application, then "Select Computer" and under Host Name Enter "localhost". This autofilled the password for that screen. Select "OK". Then try attach to the project. I had 2 computers that wouldnt connect and this fixed both of them.
