I've been running Einstein@Home happily on Fedora 6 and 7. Ever since I've upgraded to Fedora 8 I can't get the manager to run. I always get: > ./run_manager boincmgr: xcb_xlib.c:41: xcb_xlib_lock: Assertion `!c->xlib.lock' failed. Aborted Deleting and resinstalling hasn't cleared the problem. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? What can I do to get it running again? All help appreciated. |

Incidentally, yesterday openSUSE patched the xlib library to resolve the problem via the openSUSE updater, I'm sure the other distributions will be doing so as well. I haven't tried the update yet. |

The Search here really works, you know? ;-) Sad to say, that didn't have any effect that I could tell. I'm happy to give machine cycles to BOINC when the s/w works on my machine again. I'll keep updating my Fedora and see if anything changes. |

In the other case... is this BOINC 5.10.28 by chance? If so, then you are almost bound to only use the command line version. From here: Howdy Folks, |

... I rebooted my machine just now to check if the new xlib patch works, and I'm glad to report that it has fixed the problem. |
